WELLINGTON MALAYALEE ASSOCIATION (WMA)
Membership Terms & Conditions
By applying for or renewing membership with Wellington Malayalee Association (WMA), the applicant/member acknowledges and agrees to the following terms and conditions:
1. Eligibility for Membership
By applying for or renewing membership with Wellington Malayalee Association (WMA), the applicant/member confirms and agrees that they fall within at least one of the membership eligibility categories outlined in the WMA Constitution, which includes persons with Malayalee heritage/cultural connection, persons with Malayalam ancestry, spouses/partners of eligible persons, or other persons approved by the Committee in accordance with the Constitution.
2. Membership Approval
Submission of a membership application does not automatically guarantee acceptance. All applications are subject to review and approval by the WMA Core Committee.
3. Committee Discretion
The WMA Core Committee reserves the right to accept, decline, suspend, or cancel any membership application or membership in accordance with the Constitution and bylaws of the Association.
4. Membership Validity
Membership is valid for one membership year only and must be renewed annually to remain active.
5. Membership Fees
Applicable membership fees must be paid in full during registration or renewal. Membership fees are non-refundable except where otherwise decided by the Committee.
6. Voting Rights and Committee Eligibility
Only members aged eighteen (18) years or older are eligible to vote in Association meetings and elections or serve as an executive committee member, subject to the Constitution.
7. Restricted Membership Category
Members admitted under Section 4.1(d) of the Constitution may participate in Association activities but will not have voting rights and will not be eligible to hold executive committee or office bearer positions.
8. Membership Cancellation or Withdrawal
A member may withdraw their membership at any time by notifying the Association. WMA also reserves the right to suspend or cancel memberships in accordance with its Constitution and bylaws.
9. Communication Consent
By applying for membership, members consent to receiving official communications from WMA, including notices, announcements, event information, voting notices, newsletters, membership reminders, and other Association-related updates via email, phone, WhatsApp, social media, or other electronic means.
10. Privacy
Information provided during membership registration will be used for Association administration, communication, event management, and membership records. WMA will take reasonable steps to protect member information and will not intentionally share personal information outside Association-related purposes unless required by law.
11. Constitution and Bylaws
All members agree to abide by the WMA Constitution, bylaws, policies, and decisions made in accordance with them. The latest approved version of the Constitution and bylaws shall apply.
